I'm not convinced this was actually a good idea. Vertical stacking puts enormous stress on the vehicle's structure. I'd like to see some evidence that this didn't cause damage to the cars during transport or storage.

Has anyone actually seen photos of these vertically stacked Vegas on trains? I'm trying to visualize exactly how they configured this and I can't quite picture it in my head.

Great questions everyone! From what I read, the securing system used multiple cross-bracing techniques and specially designed cradles. The Vegas were actually pretty robust despite being lightweight, so the vertical method worked better than expected. I think you're overcomplicating this. They probably just had good engineering practices and proper securing mechanisms. No need to assume things went wrong.

Disagree with the vertical stacking approach entirely. Horizontal transport has always been standard for good reason. I'd love to know how many Vegas actually arrived damaged using this method versus traditional shipping.
