Hey everyone! I came across an amazing photo archive of the 2000 BMW Z8 from Car and Driver and had to share it with the community. This is such an iconic roadster that deserves more appreciation.
The 2000 BMW Z8 represents one of the most beautiful sports cars ever designed. Looking at these photos, you can really appreciate the craftsmanship and engineering that went into this machine. The styling is absolutely timeless - the long hood, the retractable hardtop, and those classic proportions just never get old.
For those unfamiliar, the Z8 was BMW's homage to the legendary 507, and it was produced from 2000 to 2003. The 2000 model year marked the beginning of production, making these first examples particularly special. The car features a 5.0-liter V8 engine producing 400 horsepower, which was seriously impressive for the early 2000s.
What really strikes me about these photos is how well the Z8 has aged. Even two decades later, it doesn't look dated at all. The design language is elegant rather than aggressive, which is refreshing compared to some modern supercars. The build quality evident in these shots shows why BMW is still respected in the automotive world.
The interior shots in this gallery are particularly interesting because they showcase the luxury appointments and attention to detail. This wasn't just a sports car - it was a grand tourer designed for high-speed driving with genuine comfort.
I'm curious to hear what everyone thinks about the Z8. Does the design appeal to you? Have any of you had the chance to see one in person? Let me know your thoughts!

Wow, those photos are incredible! The 2000 Z8 is seriously one of my dream cars. The retractable hardtop was such an innovative feature for its time. BMW really knocked it out of the park with this design.

I have to disagree with the hype around this car. Don't get me wrong, it looks good, but the performance numbers are nothing special compared to contemporary competitors. And the price was astronomical for what you got.

The Z8 is gorgeous, no question about it. But have you looked into the maintenance costs? These things are expensive to keep running. Parts are rare and labor costs are brutal. Ownership isn't for the faint of heart.

One of the best-looking roadsters ever made, period. The proportions are perfect. Sometimes less is more, and the Z8 proves that design philosophy.

That interior shot with the leather seats is *chef's kiss*. The materials and craftsmanship really show why this car commanded such a premium price. It feels properly luxurious.

Thanks everyone for the replies! @jamessmith45 I hear your point about performance, but I think the Z8 was always more about the experience and heritage than raw numbers. It's a driver's car first and foremost.

The retractable hardtop mechanism is something engineering firms still study. It's such a clever design. I'd love to know more about how BMW engineered that system.

Hard pass for me. The Z8 feels overrated compared to something like a Porsche 911 from the same era. The 911 would destroy it on any track and holds value better too.

That color in the gallery photos is stunning! I believe that's the original Titanium Silver. Such a timeless choice for a classic like this.
