The chemistry behind this is actually really interesting. Epoxy polymerizes through cross-linking, and under heat those bonds start breaking down. I wonder if the guy used filler materials in the epoxy to improve temperature resistance. That could make a huge difference.

This is exactly the kind of content that makes me love the internet. Someone asks 'can I?' and then actually does it, even if nobody should. The engineering is probably terrible but the audacity is amazing.

The real question is could this be improved with better materials? Like, what if someone used a high-temperature epoxy or added ceramic particles for thermal resistance? This could actually become a viable temporary repair method for emergency situations.

Exactly what kevin said. This isn't just a failed experiment, it's a potential catastrophe waiting to happen. Without proper engineering analysis and repeated testing, declaring this a 'working' head is dangerous.

I feel like people are overthinking this. It's a one-off project, not a commercial product. The guy knew the risks and did it anyway for the sake of the experiment. That's how innovation starts, even if 99% of crazy ideas don't pan out.

High-temp epoxies might work better, but we're still talking about something rated for maybe 300-400 degrees continuously. Combustion temps are 2000+. You'd need something more like a ceramic composite, which isn't really epoxy anymore.

Regardless of practicality, this belongs in an engineering hall of fame for audacity. 'I'm going to make an engine head from JB Weld' is the kind of energy we need more of in the maker community.
