The 95,000 miles is nothing for these engines. My mate's is at 140,000 and still running strong. Just keep up with oil changes and you'll be fine.

Fair point about the mileage. But the real question is whether parts will be readily available in five years. That's my concern with older French cars.

Parts are still reasonably available through the usual online suppliers. Renault had a decent market presence back then, so aftermarket support isn't terrible.

I love the aesthetic of the Megane Coupe. If you're mechanically inclined, it's a great project car. If not, you might struggle with repairs since not all garages know them well anymore.

That's the right approach. A proper inspection will tell you everything you need to know. These specialists exist for a reason – worth the £150 investment.

These are all really helpful points. I'm leaning towards getting it inspected by a specialist who knows these models. Seems like the general consensus is they're decent cars if you're prepared for some quirks.

Check the brake fluid condition thoroughly – these can develop moisture issues. Also inspect the undercarriage for rust, particularly around the wheel arches and sills.
