@amelia76 - From what I understand, it includes odometer fraud, undisclosed title brands, and selling vehicles with known mechanical defects without proper disclosure. Classic schemes.

But with 144 charges, this dealer was apparently very good at hiding things or aggressively suppressing information. Not all fraud is easy to catch even with inspections.

I'm genuinely concerned about how prevalent this is. Are there resources where we can check if a dealer has been flagged before? Like a registry of complaints?

I've always wondered how dealers get away with this stuff for so long before getting caught. 144 charges suggests a long pattern. Were there no complaints filed before this?

I still maintain that consumers need to be more vigilant. Getting an independent pre-purchase inspection costs what, maybe $200? That's insurance against a $20,000+ mistake.

The BBB and state attorney general offices maintain complaint databases. Also check online reviews carefully, though obviously this dealer probably deleted a lot of negative ones.

Great suggestions everyone. The key takeaway is that we need to protect ourselves. Check complaint databases, get inspections, verify titles, and never rush into a purchase. Your due diligence is your best defense.
