I looked into this more after your post, Adrian. You're right that there's been some discussion in regulatory circles about this. It's not imminent but it's definitely a real possibility that needs attention from the manufacturer lobby.

The real issue is that manufacturers want all the benefits of both classifications without the responsibilities of either. Three-wheelers should have to pick a lane - literally and figuratively.

Has anyone checked what other countries do with three-wheeler regulations? Maybe there's a model we could follow that would protect these vehicles while addressing safety concerns.

I think you're overblowing this. The automotive lobby is powerful enough to prevent something like this from happening quietly. Polaris has influence on Capitol Hill.

Kevin has a point about safety standards though. Maybe the conversation should be about creating specific safety requirements for three-wheelers rather than banning them outright.

At the end of the day, if you own one of these vehicles, you're taking a calculated risk. The regulatory landscape could change at any time. Just another factor to consider when deciding whether to invest in one.

Does anyone know if Polaris or Can-Am have already started lobbying efforts to protect the three-wheeler category? That seems like the obvious next step if Congress is actually considering this.
