Probably existing owners mostly, but I could see some buyers specifically targeting the ZR1 knowing they can now tune it. That changes the value proposition a bit.

This is genuinely cool from a technical standpoint. The engineering that went into breaking this lockdown is no joke. Respect to the tuning community for pulling this off.

The warranty implications are serious though. If your engine blows up after an ECU tune, GM is 100% going to deny the claim. Make sure everyone understands what they're giving up.

Technical achievement or not, I still think it's unnecessary. The stock performance is already ridiculous. But I respect people who want to push their cars further - just do it carefully.

Kevin, I get what you're saying, but for enthusiasts, the ability to customize is part of the fun. It's not always about practicality - it's about control and personalization.

Anyone getting a ZR1 just for tuning purposes, or are we talking about existing owners? Curious about the price point people are willing to pay for these tunes.

Really appreciate the balanced discussion everyone. I think the key takeaway is: this is possible now, which is exciting, but it requires caution, proper tuning shop selection, and understanding the warranty/reliability trade-offs. It's not a casual modification.
