Chinese Brand Chery Planning to Launch Pickup Trucks in Australia - Game Changer?
Re: Chinese Brand Chery Planning to Launch Pickup Trucks in Australia - Game Changer?
Honestly, I give them a good shot at capturing maybe 10-15% of the market within five years if they execute properly. Young owners and first-time truck buyers might be their target demographic. They don't have the brand baggage and might appreciate the value proposition.

Look, I might be proven wrong, but I still think most serious tradies won't risk switching from established brands. They need reliability they can count on, and Chery simply hasn't proven itself in Australia's demanding work conditions.

Does anyone know the expected pricing for the KP31? That's going to be the make-or-break factor. If it's significantly cheaper than Ford Rangers and Toyota HiLux models, it could be extremely attractive despite being a new brand.

I'm curious about the specifications too. Engine options, towing capacity, payload, interior features - all that matters. The Chery needs to be competitive not just on price but on actual performance metrics as well.

I actually think the timing is perfect. The pickup market is booming, and consumers are more open to Chinese brands than ever before. Chery and the KP31 could arrive at exactly the right moment to capture market share effectively.

Maintenance costs are going to be critical. Even if the purchase price is lower, if servicing costs more or takes longer due to parts issues, buyers will quickly regret their choice. This is my main concern with Chinese newcomers.

This is exactly what the industry needs. Fresh competition. I'm genuinely interested in seeing how the KP31 performs in Australian conditions. If it's reliable and affordable, why not consider it? Let's not be too closed-minded about this.
