Is Toyota Actually Bringing Back the Celica? New Rally Prototype Spotted!
Re: Is Toyota Actually Bringing Back the Celica? New Rally Prototype Spotted!
Rally prototype or not, I'm not convinced this becomes a production car. The market has changed dramatically since the original Celica days. Buyers want SUVs and electric vehicles now. This feels nostalgic but potentially risky for Toyota.

Has anyone heard any rumors about pricing? That's going to be the make-or-break factor for me. The original Celica was the people's sports car. The new one needs to maintain that philosophy.

Looking at the aerodynamics of this prototype, it's clearly designed for rally competition first. The real question is whether they can translate that into something comfortable enough for daily driving. That's where most modern sports cars fall short.

The timing could be perfect too. Sports car market is looking for alternatives right now. Subaru's BRZ is solid but could use competition. Toyota doing a Celica revival would shake things up nicely.

Toyota's rally heritage with the Celica is unquestionable. That three-time World Rally Championship pedigree is something you can't just ignore. Bringing that back would be powerful marketing alone.

I'm coming around on this actually. Reading more about the prototype, it does seem like Toyota is serious about this. The resources they're putting into rally development suggests more than just a one-off concept.

The rally testing is smart from a development perspective, but it also tells me Toyota is being very cautious. They want to prove the concept works before committing to production. That's responsible engineering.
