I checked my 2018 X5 and it's not on the recall list. Feeling lucky right now but also frustrated that the issue wasn't caught during production. Quality control at the factory should prevent these problems.

I finally got my appointment scheduled for next week. Nervous about what they'll find. Hopefully it's just a software update or something simple. Let me know if others hear anything about what the actual repair entails.

Update: I've verified my 2020 BMW 3 Series is affected by this recall. Already scheduled my appointment for next month. Will report back on what the issue actually is and how long the repair takes.

My dealership sent me a letter with specific details about the recall. Apparently it affects a component in the braking system. This is definitely serious and I'm glad BMW is being proactive about it.

I disagree with people saying this reflects poorly on BMW. This is actually a sign that the safety system is working. Defects were caught, recalled, and will be fixed. This is how automotive safety should work.

Just curious - for those of you who got the recall work done, how much did BMW charge? Or is the entire recall repair covered under the warranty? I need to prepare my budget accordingly.

I called my BMW dealership and they said they're swamped with recall appointments. They can't get me in for another three weeks. This is unacceptable. The dealerships need to have more resources to handle these recalls quickly.
