You know what, I take back some of my earlier comments. If you're looking for a weekend cruiser or a collector piece, the Ramcharger does have character. The SLT is the right trim level to get - better interior, nicer dashboard, more usable daily.

The interior is going to feel pretty dated by today's standards. No modern tech, no backup camera, no touchscreen. If you're used to current vehicles, the driving experience might be a bit of a shock. But that's part of the charm, I guess.

The resale value on these has been climbing lately. I've been watching them online, and good examples are holding their prices better than I expected. Might actually be a decent investment if you find the right one.

The 1999 is one of the last model years, which makes it more valuable to collectors. That's another reason why these are worth considering. Parts availability is still decent since so many were sold.

I think for the right person, this could work. But you need to be the type of owner who appreciates older vehicles and doesn't mind troubleshooting occasional issues. It's definitely not for someone looking for modern reliability and convenience.

Anyone considering one should definitely get a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. That's crucial with vehicles this age. You want to know about rust, transmission condition, engine issues, and any previous accidents before committing.

Thinking about fuel economy again - if you maintain it properly and drive it conservatively, you might do better than the 12-14 mpg figure. Regular tune-ups, clean filters, and proper tire pressure all help with efficiency.
