For someone who drives a lot of highway miles, the hybrid doesn't make sense. Hybrids shine in city driving. The Telluride is a big SUV for family trips and road trips mostly.

Anyone else looking at competitors? The Highlander Hybrid has been out longer and might give us insights into Telluride hybrid reliability and resale value.

The $7300 difference is exactly what I want to explore during my test drive. Will ask the dealer about fuel economy expectations and warranty details.

The maintenance point is valid though. Hybrid battery replacements can cost $5000-8000 out of warranty. That needs to be factored into the total cost of ownership analysis.

I ran the numbers on Gas vs Hybrid using multiple fuel price scenarios. Break even is honestly 5-7 years in most cases. Too long for me.

For families with long-term plans to keep the vehicle 8+ years, the hybrid premium might make sense. But if you're planning to sell in 4-5 years, stick with gas.

People need to stop focusing only on fuel economy. The Telluride Hybrid is smoother, quieter, and has better torque from the electric motors. Those are real benefits beyond just MPG.
