The realignment probably means less investment in traditional gas vehicles and more focus on EVs. That's where all the margin went. Companies that transition slowly get punished like this.

My maintenance cost went up 40% when I started going to the official dealer instead of my trusted independent mechanic. Same work, same quality, but double the price. Now I only go to the dealer when it's absolutely necessary for warranty purposes.

I had a dealer try to charge me $85 for a 'system diagnostic update' that was just a software patch. It literally downloaded and installed automatically. I refused to pay and they eventually waived it. Always stand your ground with these charges.
