Found a Pristine 18k-Mile 2002 Corvette Z06 - Worth the Investment?

Hey everyone, I've been hunting for the right C5 Corvette for months now, and I just came across what looks like an exceptional example: a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with only 18k miles on the odometer. The car appears to be in immaculate condition with full service records and original documentation.

For those unfamiliar, the 2002 Z06 is a special model year that marked the beginning of the high-performance Z06 variant. It features the LS6 5.7L V8 engine producing 405 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Z06 came with distinctive bodywork, upgraded suspension, lighter wheels, and performance-focused internals that set it apart from the standard Corvette.

With only 18k miles, this is basically a near-new example of one of the most collectible Corvette generations. The low mileage means minimal wear on the engine, transmission, and chassis components. The Z06 nameplate has become increasingly valuable in recent years as enthusiasts recognize its significance in Corvette history.

I'm seriously considering making an offer, but I want to get the community's perspective. Is this the right time to buy? Are there any specific issues or concerns I should watch out for with early Z06 models? What's the realistic market value for a car in this condition? I'd also like to hear from anyone who owns or has owned a 2002 Z06 about long-term reliability and ownership experience.

The asking price seems reasonable based on comparable listings, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything before I commit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

That's an incredible find! The 2002 Z06 is a legendary car. With only 18k miles, you're looking at a nearly untouched example. The LS6 is bulletproof if maintained properly. I'd say pull the trigger on this one.

Thanks for the responses so far. Yes, it's the 6-speed manual, and the documentation confirms the LS6. I've already scheduled a pre-purchase inspection with a local Corvette specialist next week. I'll report back with findings.

The 2002 Z06 is one of the most desirable Corvette models ever made. With that mileage, you're getting essentially a new car that has appreciated significantly. I'd recommend a thorough pre-purchase inspection from a Corvette specialist before committing.

Daniel, which transmission is it? The 6-speed manual is obviously the one to get, but confirm it has the correct LS6 engine. Some dealers misrepresent earlier model specs. Get a PPI from a Corvette expert.

Don't sleep on this opportunity. 2002 Z06 prices have been climbing steadily, and low-mileage examples are getting harder to find. If it checks out mechanically, this could be a solid investment piece.

Honestly, I think you're overthinking this. An 18k-mile 2002 Z06 in good condition is a home run. The car's history, rarity, and condition make it a no-brainer for a collector. Just make sure the service records are complete.

18k miles is almost new! These cars were built to last if you don't abuse them. The LS6 in stock form is incredibly reliable. I'd be more concerned about dry rot on the tires after sitting than any mechanical issues.

I still think there are better values out there, but if you love the Z06 specifically, this is a decent example. Just don't expect to flip it for a huge profit like some people think.

I'm going to be the contrarian here - at current prices, I think Z06s are overvalued. Everyone wants them, but you can find excellent condition C5 coupes with similar performance for less money. Just my two cents.
