I saw one at a car show last year and I was absolutely stunned. Photos don't do it justice. The presence in person is incredible. Definitely worth experiencing if you ever get the chance.

The design is undeniably beautiful, I'll give it that. But the performance-to-price ratio was always poor compared to the competition. You were basically paying a huge premium for the badge and looks.

I appreciate how BMW stayed true to the 507 design language while still making it modern for 2000. It's respectful to the heritage without being derivative.

The hardtop storage system is ingenious. Fits completely inside the trunk when retracted. That's the kind of engineering attention that separates good cars from great ones.

The headlights have such character compared to modern designs. This whole era of BMW was special before they started over-complicating everything.

Those leather interiors look amazing but they're a nightmare to maintain. Plus the electronics in these older cars can get temperamental. Factor all that into the true cost of ownership.

This gallery is making me want to search for one right now. Which year is considered the best? Does 2000 have any specific advantages over the later model years?
