Sofia's right. Before anyone gets too excited about this, we need actual proof. Show us the official MA250 program details or a source that confirms someone got plate #1 for $60. Otherwise this is just speculation and rumors.

Don't forget about maintenance costs if you're planning to daily drive any special plates. You'll want to make sure the vehicle is in top shape to properly showcase whatever plate you're running. That can get expensive quick.

Even if the headline is exaggerated, I'm still interested in the MA250 plates as a whole. Anniversary edition plates are cool collectibles and a good way to support your state's 250th celebration. Anyone planning to get one?

Looking at this from a different angle - if Massachusetts really is doing special anniversary plates, that's a great revenue generator for the state. $60 per plate times thousands of interested drivers adds up quickly.

Has anyone actually purchased one of these MA250 plates yet? Would be interesting to hear from someone who has one and what the experience was like. Do they hold any resale value?

I appreciate James admitting he should have verified first. That's the kind of honest discourse we need. Regardless of the accuracy of the original story, the MA250 plates sound interesting. Let's focus on what we can actually confirm about them.

I'm going to look this up myself because now I'm genuinely curious about the MA250 program and what options Massachusetts is offering. If nothing else, this thread sparked my interest in specialty plates.

After checking, the MA250 plates are indeed real and part of Massachusetts' 250th anniversary celebration. They're available to all registered vehicle owners for a reasonable fee. Not sure about the #1 plate specifically, but the basic program exists and is legitimate.
