The no-reserve auction format is interesting. It could go either way - you might get it for less if there aren't many bidders, or it could explode in price if multiple collectors get interested. Has anyone seen what similar 340 Challengers have sold for recently?

Sarah, are you planning to bid on this yourself, or are you just sharing it for discussion? Either way, I think it's a solid find. The no-reserve format takes the guesswork out of pricing. Final bid will be what the market thinks it's worth.

Anyone worried about insurance costs for a classic like this? I've heard vintage muscle car insurance can get expensive depending on how you classify it. Agreed value policies versus standard coverage makes a big difference in total ownership cost.

I've actually owned a similar Challenger from that era. The 4-speed is bulletproof if it's been maintained. The weak point is usually the cooling system on these old cars. Make sure the radiator is in good condition and the engine runs cool. Overheating is a common issue.

The original upholstery and interior condition is crucial too. Reproduction parts are available, but authentic 1970 Challenger interior components can be pricey. If the factory interior is shot, that's another significant restoration cost to factor in.

The 340 paired with a 4-speed is actually a nice combination for a driver's car. You get decent performance without the extreme fuel consumption of the bigger blocks. Perfect for someone who wants to actually use the car rather than trailer it to shows.

I keep coming back to the convertible factor. These are becoming rarer because so many were modified or converted to hardtops over the years. Original convertibles are worth a premium. If this one is a legitimate original convertible, that's a major selling point regardless of the 340 engine.

You're all focusing on positives, but let's be real - these cars from the early 70s have serious issues. The paint durability is poor, the chrome plating deteriorates rapidly, and mechanical components are outdated. Parts obsolescence is real. I'd rather invest in a newer classic, maybe late 80s or 90s.
