Has anyone actually verified these claims about the robots? CarScoops is decent but this sounds almost too convenient - robots that work perfectly with zero issues? I'd want to see official BMW statements before I believe the hype.

I work in tech and automation is my field. Honestly, even I think BMW is moving too fast with this. The safety and liability issues with humanoid robots aren't fully worked out. But yeah, eventually this will be standard.

andrew.brown makes a fair point about verification, but even if the robots aren't perfect yet, BMW clearly believes in this direction enough to invest heavily. That tells you something about where the industry is headed. And that's concerning from a worker rights perspective.

One thing nobody's talking about - what happens when these robots break down or malfunction? That's downtime with zero production. The maintenance cost and complexity could end up being higher than keeping human workers around. Has anyone done the actual math?

The technology is cool, I'll admit. But we can't let companies just eliminate entire job categories without consequences. There needs to be a transition period, severance packages, retraining funds. The government should mandate this.

The real question is whether these robots can be retrained for different tasks or if they're locked into one job. If BMW can swap them between production lines, that's an even bigger advantage. Flexibility plus no human limitations.

Everyone worried about the jobs needs to think bigger. Once transportation is automated too, delivery drivers are gone. Retail? Self-checkout and robots. We're entering a completely different economy. BMW is just ahead of the curve.
