Man, now you've got me seriously considering this. Could you share more details on the workbench setup? What brand and style did you go with?

Good questions everyone! David.tan - no special permits needed, just standard commercial lease. Emma.martin - I'll definitely post photos once it's completely finished. Insurance added maybe $150/month but that was expected. The whole thing has honestly been worth every penny.

This is the dream setup right here. I'm genuinely jealous. How's the commute to the workshop? Is it worth it time-wise?

I love that you're living the collector's dream the right way. Too many people just let their vehicles deteriorate in random spots. You've got a real home for them now!

Also thinking about it more - what about the additional insurance and liability on a commercial space? That could add up fast. Did you look into all the costs?

I'll admit I was skeptical at first but after thinking about it, if you're actually using the space and maintaining your collection, this makes total sense. My bad for being dismissive earlier.

Okay so with $800/month rent plus utilities, maintenance, insurance, that's over $2,000 monthly just to have these vehicles. That's $24,000 a year. People need to really think about whether they can sustain that financially.
