The environmental impact of EV production is another important consideration. Mining for lithium and cobalt has its own problems, but at least it's a finite cost versus decades of emissions from gas cars.

What fascinates me is how quickly battery technology and costs have improved. Five years ago, most people thought mass EV adoption was decades away. Now here we are watching it happen in real time.

I'm not entirely convinced these numbers tell the whole story. Some of these 'EVs' might be plug-in hybrids that don't perform like true electric vehicles. How many of these 2 million are actually pure battery electric cars?

The price point of VW's EV models has been key to their success. They've managed to make electric vehicles accessible to mainstream consumers, not just luxury buyers. That's the real game-changer.

I think we should also celebrate the jobs being created in EV manufacturing. Germany's entire automotive sector is transforming around this technology. That's economically significant.

Price accessibility is one thing, but availability is another. VW still faces severe production constraints and long delivery times. Scaling without compromising delivery schedules is their next big test.

The 2 million milestone shows that the EV revolution isn't just marketing hype anymore. It's a fundamental shift in how humanity will power transportation. Pretty exciting to witness.
