Don't forget about performance culture. The 1960s and early 70s were peak car enthusiasm. Manufacturers were essentially letting customers build their dream car from the factory menu. That's brilliant marketing when you think about it.

This is actually brilliant from a manufacturing perspective. Zero human error, consistent quality, 24/7 production. BMW is going to absolutely dominate competitors who stick with human workers. Other manufacturers have no choice but to follow.

The real question is whether these robots can be retrained for different tasks or if they're locked into one job. If BMW can swap them between production lines, that's an even bigger advantage. Flexibility plus no human limitations.
