The battery is definitely the critical component here. AGM batteries used in start-stop vehicles are designed from the ground up to handle constant charging and discharging cycles. They're more expensive upfront but they last as long as traditional batteries in these applications.

One thing people don't consider is transmission stress. When the engine restarts, especially with automatic transmissions, there's a jolt. I wonder how many additional start cycles the transmission is designed to handle.

I have to respectfully disagree with James. The credit absolutely helped convert buyers who were on the fence. It made the total cost of ownership calculation work for middle-class families. Not everyone needs to be an EV enthusiast to benefit from the incentive.

Absolutely the credit mattered. I was on the fence about buying an EV, and that $7,500 is what pushed me over the edge to get a Tesla Model Y. Without it, I probably would have waited another year or two. The credit made the overall cost comparable to a gas car, which was the tipping point for me.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I should clarify - I'm really impressed with the ambient lighting they've added. It transforms the cabin in the evening. The quality of materials definitely shows Subaru is committed to moving upmarket. Looking forward to test driving it soon!

Good point about customization, Luna. I think the next step is to actually sit in one at a dealership to test the controls. Photos can only tell us so much about usability.
