Thanks everyone for the engagement! To answer David's point – yes, the fuel consumption is a factor, but for airport operations specifically, the rapid response capability often justifies the cost. Municipal departments definitely need to consider their budget constraints more carefully though.

sofia79, I agree with you. Diesel engines are tough and reliable. They're not going anywhere fast.
