This story would make a great case study for consumer protection. Someone should escalate this to see if there's a pattern with this seller or this restoration shop.

Has anyone checked if the buyer had any legal recourse here? Surely there's a contract dispute if the restoration exceeded agreed estimates by that much. This would be worth fighting in small claims or taking to trading standards.

Hey everyone, I just got my service invoice from the dealership and I'm absolutely baffled by some of the charges they're trying to bill me. This got me thinking - what are the most ridiculous OEM charges you've all encountered? I'm talking about those completely unnecessary or absurdly overpriced ...

Right, the diagnostic fees are probably what bothers me the most. You're basically paying them to tell you what's wrong before you even agree to fix anything. And if it's under warranty? That should definitely be free. Glad I'm not the only one dealing with this nonsense.

Yeah, the variance between dealers is insane. You'd think the same manufacturer would have standardized pricing, but apparently not. I'm starting to think we need more transparency in how these charges are calculated.
