People forget how reliable German cars were back in 1988. The maintenance might be pricier than Japanese models, but these Benzes and BMWs were tanks if you took care of them. Different ownership experience entirely.

I have to disagree about the Mercedes being the best. The BMW 6-series design was far more timeless and sporty. It didn't look like it was from the 80s as quickly as the Merc did. BMW's engineering was superior too.
