I work with composites and epoxy compounds professionally. The thermal expansion rates alone would cause complete failure within a few operating cycles. Unless this person used some kind of specialized epoxy formulation, which the article doesn't mention. If anyone has more details on the exact ...

High-temp epoxies might work better, but we're still talking about something rated for maybe 300-400 degrees continuously. Combustion temps are 2000+. You'd need something more like a ceramic composite, which isn't really epoxy anymore.
