Re: White Powder on New Car Parts - What Is It Really?

I've dealt with this exact issue on brake parts. The white powder is usually a rust inhibitor, and yes, you need to clean it off before installation. I used a soft wire brush and some degreaser. Just take your time and don't be too aggressive with it.

Following up on my earlier comment - if anyone uses chemical solvents, make sure they're compatible with the material of the part. I made the mistake of using the wrong solvent on an aluminum component once and it left spots.

Re: 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4MATIC Sedan - No Reserve Auction

I disagree with the hype on this one. The new generation E63 will depreciate slower, and this W213 is already showing its age compared to newer models. The interior tech is getting outdated pretty quickly in the luxury segment. Maybe wait for a 2023+ model?

Also worth noting: tire costs on this vehicle are brutal. You're looking at $300+ per tire for the proper performance rubber that these cars demand. Factor that into your ownership costs.
