I disagree that this represents a broader pattern in the industry. Most dealers are legitimate. One bad actor shouldn't taint everyone's reputation. We need to be fair here.

I still maintain that consumers need to be more vigilant. Getting an independent pre-purchase inspection costs what, maybe $200? That's insurance against a $20,000+ mistake.
